The committee has a full program once again for this Rotary year.
£1000 has been set aside to support a project in Nepal. Local people have visited a village in
Nepal and are to return to install a small hydro electric scheme. This will enable every house in
the village to have one electric light bulb. The team have qualified electricians to enable the work
to be carried out. The date set is September 2008
With our twin Club at Moratuwa in Sri Lanka we have been able to source and supply 30 wheelchairs
For Moratuwa. This has been done as part of a much wider project supported by Rotary International
The Club continues to collect tools for Self Reliance so if anyone has unwanted tools please make c
contact with the Club. All tools can be sent to the places where they will be most appreciated.
The Club helped to recover unwanted tents and camping equipment following the V Festival in
Staffordshire. Together with members from many other Clubs, over 10000 tents were recovered ,
cleaned and packaged ready to be sent for use in emergencies and for temporary shelters
Last year the Club sent out 53 treadle sewing machines. Each machine can give a family a living.
